I grew up listening to bands such as Iron Maiden and Guns n Roses–so having the chance to be in-charge of all things audio for this project (producing, arranging, recording, editing, and mixing) was a perfect project for me. What I found particularly challenging was giving the lead singer’s (James’s) voice that “slightly-gritty-and-distant 80s vocal effect” which you commonly hear on W.A.S.P., Helloween 80’s-era records. After experimenting with several plug-in combinations, I ended up going back to basics and simply running the vocal tracks through a snare big room reverb preset which I think we managed to pull off!
